JOSÉ SOLANGE FRANCIS

FOUNDER-MANAGING DIRECTOR-BOARD MEMBER


José Solange Francis is Managing Director in charge of deal origination, structuring and equity investments execution. He is also coordinating the review of investment proposals on behalf of Hamilcar’s platform of world-class investors.


José has sourced a large number of investment situations in various sectors. He has been instrumental in the development of a solid network of institutional investors and local business partners.


José has 25 years’ extensive experience in Investment Banking and Asset Management in London and Paris, at Paribas Asset Management, Natixis, SocGen, GFI Group and Integra Capital. He was active as a Fund Manager, Trader and Equity and Derivatives Sales. He arranged industrial transactions for large international institutions, including hedge funds. His activities covered IPOs, Secondary Offerings, Block Trades, Repo Trades and Stocks Lending. He has been active in identifying attractive investment opportunities in M&A, distressed assets and restructuring situations, and managing equity and derivatives exposure.


José holds a Masters Degree in Finance (ISG Business School, Paris) and a Bachelor degree in Economics, Mathematics and Statistics (University of Toulouse, France). José is registered CF1 (Director) and CF30 (Customer) by the Financial Conduct Authority.

He is trilingual in English, French and Italian. He is currently learning Arabic.

BOARD MEMBER - DEVELOPMENT

Christophe Le Lannou is a Board Member of Hamilcar Capital Limited. He is advising on business development, strategic opportunities and risk assessment.


Christophe is also the founder of Data Learning Ltd, a consulting company specialising in solving complex quantitative problems and implementing big data analytical solutions.


Christophe has spent 17 years in the financial industry. He was head of Research and Quantitative Trading at Carrousel Capital, a large London based hedge fund. Christophe has a particular interest for defining and implementing development strategies for new ventures. He has a a strong enthusiasm for promoting Private Equity business across the African continent.


Christophe is also a visiting lecturer at the Toulouse Business School (TBS - France) where he teaches postgraduate business students on Quantitative Asset Management and Big Data Analytics. Christophe is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique (Paris, France) and of Ecole des Mines (Paris, France). His motto: ”Opportunity doesn’t wait, be agile and take action”.

INVESTMENT DIRECTOR

Morlai Kargbo is an Investment Director of Hamilcar Capital Limited. He is advising on all aspects of investment financing. He is also the founder of Moracle, an Accountancy and Auditing services company.


Morlai trained at a local accountancy practice in Middlesex where he qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1997. He was an audit manager for several years before his firm merged with a Londonbased audit firm, Haysmacintyre. In this firm, in addition to carrying out audit and special assignments, he was in charge of a portfolio of over sixty clients.


Morlai felt that he could make a career in training accounting graduates in assisting charity client firms in the field of management information systems, accountancy and audit. He then left to set up Moracle. He uses much of his spare time working for voluntary organisations.

INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE

David Wahl specialises in healthcare investments and is responsible for identifying, analysing and enhancing the value of investments opportunities in that specific sector across Africa. He is actively developing Hamilcar Medical Africa fund.


David is also Development Consultant at Numelec S.A., a medical equipment company specialising in hospital equipment provision and hospital design in developing markets. Founded in 1968, Numelec has numerous regional offices and brings local knowledge to the design of medical solutions. Hamilcar and Numelec cooperate to provide financing solutions to projects identified in the African healthcare sector.


Prior to Hamilcar, David worked 8 years at Orbis Investment Advisory Ltd, a global equity hedge fund where he carried out quantitative and qualitative analysis in equities and currencies. Previously, David set up two research groups in the field of particle physics in Peru after completing his D.Phil. at the University of Oxford. He holds an MSc in Physics from Imperial College, London (1st Class honours).

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

George Bodo is an Associate Director of Hamilcar Capital Kenya Limited (HCKL). He oversees the deal sourcing and runs the operations locally. He is also the founder and CEO at Callstreet Research and Analytics, a local knowledge business focusing on business intelligence and investor relations.


He gained a decade of solid experience in relevant African financial companies such as Ecobank, Apex Africa Capital and Genghis Capital where he has developed his expertise in financial and economic analysis and in capital markets (fixed income and equity).


George started his career in 2009 as a financial markets commentator after which he moved to sell-side equity research. He rose as the head of research covering Sub-Saharan African (SSA) banks.


He is a thought leader on macro-economics and accompanying policies. He is also a certified invest and financial analyst (ICIFA) and a regular columnist.


George is graduated from Strathmore University with a Bachelor degree of Business Information Technology (BBIT). He is a Kenyan citizen and speaks English and Kiswahili.
